'She would put me on babysitting duty a lot': Stray momma cat keeps bringing her kittens to this kind human, asking for some much-needed co-parenting help

Being a cat momma is a hard job, that is a fact. Think of how hard it is to raise one human at a time and then think about how cat mommas have to raise whole litters of babies at once. It's rough. There is a lot that you have to teach your kittens. You have to teach kittens how to drink from a bowl without getting water up their noses, for example. You have to teach kittens how to communicate with their future humans so that they can give us the orders that we're supposed to follow. 

Really, it's not surprising that some cat mommas get overwhelmed sometimes. And it's even less surprising that some cat mommas ask humans to help… to babysit. They need a break every once in a while too. And for you, the human that was chosen to babysit, that is a very big and impurrtant responsibility that they are bestowing upon you. So, you have to take it seriously, just like the person in today's story did.

    I decided to take her in and got her fixed as she is pretty old now but I always found it funny she would bring her litter to me everytime, almost all the kittens found their way in the world, a few still live around me and I know some of my neighbors who adopted them, last picture is of the mother

    TopSloth OP She would actually leave me with the kittens when she saw I was playing with them to go outside and I assume use the bathroom or other things so I can definitely see the social aspect they can use in child rearing, she would put me on babysitting duty a lot

  • The amount of trust it requires from a cat mom to not only bring her kittens to a human but to ask that human to babysit… is astronomical. We are glad to see that this person is taking it for the compliment that it is. And that they are taking their responsibility as cat babysitter very seriously.

    Own_Inevitable9935 This is so sweet She trusts you, and you are her home. This happened with our cat. She was feral previously and would bring every one of her litters to us. We got her spayed eventually, because she was growing older and getting more tired looking after her babies. It took us a while getting her spayed, because we don't have ready access to vet care.
